Philatelic Museum in Singapore,
Explore the Beauty of the Stamp and Rare Philatelic Treasure

Singapore Philatelic Museum - The display items

The Philatelic Museum in Singapore would be similar with the one at other countries – displaying the stamp of course.

But, this museum especially offers you the wonderful world of stamps together with the heritage value which come with every piece of it.

If you like stamp or want to know more about the history and journey of the stamp coupled with the moment captured along them, you’ll be fascinated here.

You may wonder whether there are people in the world still collecting stamps as hobby. Visit this museum and you’ll understand why that hobby remains popular after over 160 years.

If you are a stamp collector to be, learn “how-to” collect the stamps in a correct way here.

And, the philatelic treasure – the collection of Singapore philately and postal artifacts from 18th century can be seen at “Room of Rarities”.

Not only that, you can also get a glimpse of story about Singapore in the past, culture and festivals at the “Heritage Room”.

Talking about Singapore in the past, you can find the “postcard” at the shop in the first floor depicting Singapore in early 18th to the 19th century.

You can buy them at S$1.00 per piece.

I really love those postcards!

Here is the picture of the postcards I bought from the museum:

Theme Exhibition...
If you go up to the second floor, there are also two rooms housed the theme exhibitions.

One room is normally exhibiting the story and history of Chinese Horoscope of the year.

The other room will feature a very interesting theme. “The Journey to the Land of Lotus” was on show when I visited the philatelic museum.

I learnt many things about Vietnam’s heritage through the stamps.

This is the picture of the theme exhibition room setting for the Journey to the Land of Lotus:
