HortPark Singapore,
Parks and Gardens Lifestyle Hub Inspire Everyone

Hortpark in Singapore - Flowers

We (my husband - Sugi and I) enjoyed our outing at HortPark Singapore recently.

We’ve seen various types of flowers, colorful trees - silvery, grayish, whitish, and golden leave plants.

We felt this parks and garden is friendly for everyone from grandparents to young children to walk leisurely, play, and learn something about gardens and gardening.

The 23ha HortPark which is half the size of the150 year old Singapore Botanic Gardens has been developed by National Parks Board with a cost of S$13.1 million as a gardening lifestyle hub – the first parks and gardens in South East Asia that put together gardening-related recreational, educational, research and retail activities under one roof.

If you look at the 20 theme gardens inside the HortPark Singapore, prototype glasshouses, creative play grounds, garden features, lifestyle corner, and the HortMart, you’ll understand what it’s meant.

The Water Garden will welcome you in front of the visitor centre. The sounds of running water, swimming fishes, and the floating potted aquatic plants catch our attention from the car park.

And, look at the water feature inside the visitor centre!

HortPark - Water Feature Zen Style

The reflection of the sky, building, and trees on the water is beautiful, isn’t it? We thought it’s a perfect spot for meditation – uncluttered space inside Zen style building design.

We’ve found that the Bamboo Labyrinth, Fantasy Garden, Recycling Garden, the 6 meters height Living Wall, Herb & Spice Garden, and the Tree Climbing Corner is interesting among the 20 theme gardens.

Bamboo LabyrinthThe Bamboo Labyrinth was said has been designed to embody ancient beliefs in the meditative and healing qualities of labyrinths.

Sugi walked through the so called “path of life” to experience the labyrinth by following the 3 Cs steps of Confrontation, Convergence, and Closure.

Will you find an inner wisdom? You shall try it though……

If you are fans of The Wizard of Oz, you’ll find the characters such as Dorothy, Toto, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion surrounded by the variety of plants.

The whole family will have fun at the Fantasy Garden!

The Recycling Garden would be the place for recycling ideas in gardening.

Don’t throw your old rice cooker, boots, drink bottles, tyres, hats, and even your bathtub. They can be your home garden accessories.

If you ever read the Asian cook book or traditional medicinal book and can’t imagine how the herb & spice look, then you should visit Herb & Spice Garden.

Not only the look, you can smell, taste, and touch them here. You may start thinking to grow them back home.

Along the way, when you feel tired walking in the parks and gardens, you may rest at the sitting area or the shelters.
