Big events normally comes as public holiday in Singapore. Most of people will be out to town or to the places where the celebration took place. You’ll see the city livelier than usual.

FESTIVAL AND EVENTS IN JANUARY – FEBRUARY:
There are many festival and events going on in the month of January and February such as:
New Year’s Day on the 1st of January Schools and offices are close on this day. But, shopping malls are open and most of the store offering sale during the New Year period. Check-out our local newspaper and you may see some good news such as FREE entry to museums, or free entry to watch concert in the park.
Thaipusam (30 January 2010) It is a special day for worship of Lord Muruga (also known as Subrahmanya or Thendayuthapani).
There will be a big street parade starting at Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple in Little India follows a route through the heart of the city to Sri Thandayuthapani Temple at Tank Road.

Singapore Airshow Are you an aircraft enthusiast? You shall visit us in early February to see Singapore Air Show - Asia’s largest and one of the world’s top three aerospace and defense exhibition showing world’s best aircraft and aerobatic maneuvers.
The Singapore Airshow is a biennial event that normally takes place at
Changi Exhibition Centre
. The 2010 event will be held from 02 to 07 February.
Chinese New Year/ Lunar New Year Chinese New Year always marked with two days public holiday in Singapore. This year festival falls on 14 & 15 February.
There 3 events coincide with the Lunar New Year celebration as follow:
RIVER HONGBAO Located at the Float @ Marina Bay, top of the event is the closing of the 7th day of Chinese New Year. This is the place to go if you want to see Chinese cultural show in ushering the new year – Tiger year in Chinese calendar for 2010.
This year celebration will be held from 12 to 20th of February – opened from 12.00pm to 11.30pm (except the Eve).

ISTANA OPEN HOUSE Istana is open for public only at certain dates celebrating one of festivals in Singapore. Beside of Chinese New Year’s season, Istana is also opened during Hari Raya, Deepavali, and Labor Day.
CHINGAY Chingay is the grandest street performance in Singapore.
This year show will start from 19 February to 20 Feb 2010 with moving presentation of "Color of the Lion City and Celebrations".

There’ll be some exhibitions going on in the city but most of them are not a yearly event - its changes according to the need and response.
Good Friday will be the only public holiday in April (2April in 2010).

Singapore Garden Festival (SGF): 15 – 22 July 2010, 10.am to 10.00pm
Located at Suntec Singapore, the garden festival is one of events in Singapore offers world’s class garden and floral arrangements.
Singapore Food Festival: Food Festival is Singapore's festival and event highlighting on local food, food culture, and heritage. You may go to Lau Pa Sat to taste the local foods.
National Day (9 August) I would say National day is the only one public holiday in Singapore between July – August. The highlight would be the National day’s parade, performance, and fireworks at Marina Bay.

Hari Raya Hari Raya Aidil Fitri means victory over a month-long fasting in Ramadhan. It would be celebrated on 18th of September for the year of 2010 - it's of course a public holiday in Singapore.
Mid-Autumn Festival This festival is also known as Lantern Festival or Mooncakes Festival in Singapore.
The celebration usually starts from 4th week of September to 15th of October.
Singapore Sun Festival (29 October – 7 November 2010) The Sun Festival is music and lifestyle festival celebrating the "Art of Living Well" through 7 disciplines of Music, Visual Art, Literature, Film, Wine, Food and Wellness.
FESTIVAL AND EVENTS IN NOVEMBER – DECEMBER:
We have 2 days of public holiday in November:
Deepavali (5 November 2010 - Friday), and
Hari Raya Haji (17 November 2010 – Wednesday)
