If you are not sure what the best museums in Singapore to visit are, I’ll guide you along.

Ignore the long list of museums in the tourist brochure because it will make you difficult to make decision.

Read through my recommendation and make a quick decision to visit one or two of the best museums in Singapore listed here. You’ll have fun for sure!

Oh, by the way do you know that you may have a chance to visit museums in Singapore FOC (free of charge)? It happened few times in the past year though.

Last year, my hubby and I, together with all residents & visitors had a privilege to visit some of the museums in Singapore during public holiday without paying a single cent.

But let us tell you this. Even if we have to pay the entry fee, we’ll go and visit those best museums in Singapore.

They just can’t be missed especially if you are traveling here.

We had learned about Singapore history, culture, art, and the people through those visits.

So, what & where are the best museums in Singapore?

    Visit the Singapore History gallery to see how our country has been formed over four decades.
  • Malay Heritage Centre
    Everything about Malay History can be found here through the artifacts, audio-visual presentation, and the models of an early Malay settlement in 1819.
  • Chinatown Heritage Centre
    Witness the early Chinese migrant ways of life and tradition through the interactive exhibits.

  • Singapore Art Museum (SAM)
    Visit the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) to see the world’s largest public collection of modern and contemporary Southeast Asian artworks.

    light at City Hall MRT station and walk toward the Bras Basah Road.

    10.00am to 7.00pm on Monday – Sunday (closed at 9.00pm on Friday)

    3. Free admission from 12.00pm to 2.00pm on weekdays and 6.00pm to 9.00pm on Fridays)

    The Army Museum of Singapore has captured many aspect of the army - experiences of the soldiers in the past and current time and the way we honored them.

    Alight at Boon Lay MRT (EW27) and take bus number 193 or 182, or Alight at Joo Koon MRT Station and walk to the museum.

    $5.00 for adult 7 S$3.00 for child (6 -12 years old) & senior citizen (60 years & above)
    Family Combo: $12.00 (2 Adult + 2 Child, $1 for each additional child)

    Tuesday - Sunday: 10.00am - 6.00pm
    (Closed on Mondays)

  • Being one of the latest museums in Singapore, the museum became a must-visit place for the new immigrants.

World War II Memory:
  • The Changi Museum
    I was so touched when visiting this place. There are so many people suffered during the World War II and their heroic stories really inspirational.

    I would say that the Changi Museum is one of the best museums in Singapore you have to visit.

    How to get to the Changi Museum?
    By MRT & Bus:

    1. Bus No. 2 from Tanah Merah MRT Station (EW4), or

    Admission Fee:
    Free
    S$8.00 (adult) & S$4.00 (child) for in-house/ audio single sets

    Opening Hours:
    9:30am - 5:00pm daily; last admission at 4.30pm
    (Including Sundays and Public Holidays)

Cultural:
  • Asian Civilisations Museum
    You’ll see more than 1500 artifacts on display inside the 11 thematic galleries including its special theme exhibition.

    It’s also one of the best museums and the best place to discover the civilizations of China, Southeast Asia, South Asia and West Asia (the Islamic world).

    How to get to Asian Civilisations Museum?
    Alight at Raffles Place MRT Station and walk there.
    Or, take bus number 75, 100,130, 131, and 167

    Individual admission will be S$8.00 for adults and S$4.00 for concession* rate.

    S$10 adult & S$5.00 concession rate* Joint ticket (valid within 7 days of purchase)for entry to Peranakan Museum & Asian Civilisations Museum.

    *Full-time students and those 60 years and above.
